Binkor and Ransom met when they were both just ensigns on the USS Venture. They quickly became friends. Their relationship often consisted of friendly jabs toward one another. Binkor often made fun of Ransom’s endless flirting with women and failed dates. Ransom often followed back be reminding Binkor of his fear around asking the Andorian engineer, Thaytia Sh'oshyrerh, out.
Binkor finally gained the courage to ask Thaytia out after the Ninth Fleet retook Deep Space Nine in 2373. It was Binkor and Thaytia’s wedding that swayed Ransom into buying a ring for Mariner. He did not have enough latinum on him at the time and had to borrow some from Binkor. Binkor was genuinely happy for his friend and told Ransom that he didn’t need to pay him back.
When Ransom, following his breakup with Mariner in the middle of Quarks, decided to transfer to the Cerritos, Binkor made fun of him for wanting to transfer to a California-class ship. To which Ransom responded by saying he was going to be captain of that ship one day. After his transfer, Ransom asked Binkor and Thaytia to tell Mariner that he had left the Ninth Fleet.
He and Ransom remained close friends although Ransom decided against mentioning Mariner had gotten herself demoted to the Cerritos. A move that Ransom was later extra glad about because it meant he did not have to explain everything to Binkor on top of processing that his captain and the woman who promoted him to first officer was his ex’s mother and that he may never have achieved his current rank if she had any knowledge of that whatsoever.
Binkor become captain of his own ship a year before Ransom became captain of the Cerritos. Binkor’s wife Thaytia became chief engineer.
When he learned that Mariner was one of Ransom’s first officers, Binkor was confused as to why Ransom had not proposed to her yet.
